MRAC Housing Application
Murchison Region Aboriginal Corporation (MRAC) aims to house applicants in the most suitable property available, ensuring a long, successful and sustainable tenancy. MRAC determines which type of waiting list an applicant is eligible for and which applicant will be offered a property by assessing criteria in a fair, transparent and ethical manner.
To be eligible to apply for MRAC housing, all applicants must meet the following criteria: The applicant must be:
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or a non-Aboriginal person caring for Aboriginal children.
A resident in or links to the area they are applying for housing, for at least a period of six months.
Able to provide a completed MRAC Housing Application with all requested documents.
Able to prove affordability based on income statements.
Able to providetwo acceptable rental references or
Ø a professional reference from a current or previous employer or
Ø an explanation of why a reference is unattainable.
Further to this the applicant is ineligible if they are purchasing a home or are already a homeowner.
References
MRAC accepts references from real estate agents, private landlords or the Department of Communities with whom a Residential Tenancy Lease was in place. We may also accept professional references from employers or an explanation of why a reference is unattainable.
References from family and friends are not accepted.
If references or an explanation for why one is unattainable are not supplied, no further assessment of the application will be made.
Important Information
Please be advised:
MRAC has no crisis or priority housing.
MRAC commonly has full occupancy of our rental properties.
The waiting list to receive a MRAC rental is generally 3-5 years.
Check list - Documentation must be supplied at time of lodgement.
☐ Filled in every part of this form including one of the references options
☐ Three current payslips or a Centrelink Income Statement for each applicant.
☐ Photo identification for all household members 18 years of age and over (Driver’s License preferred)
☐ Agree to receive all correspondence via email.
Once your application is assessed for housing you will be advised in writing of the outcome.
